Job Summary
We are an established Design and Construction Management company providing services for interior office space. We specialize in new tenant improvement work and renovations for corporate relocations. We are looking for an Interior Designer with 5-6 years experience in the commercial design field that can take on space planning, finish selections, working drawings, and minor administrative work. Must be an energetic self-starter with the ability to work independently. You would be responsible for taking a project from start to finish and running multiple projects simultaneously. This position is based in our well-appointed downtown Vancouver office, as well as on various projects around the lower mainland. This position will report directly to the President and be responsible for the design for the entire team.
Outline of Responsibilities
- Complete space planning and preparation of working drawings in AutoCAD and Sketch Up, including Review, Permit, Tender, Construction, and As-Built packages
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with new and existing sub trades, office staff, clients and landlords
- Complete document preparation, including but not limited to building permit applications and associated required documents, and project tender documents.
- Apply for city permits
- Liaise with landlords, compile and present required landlord documentation, manage compliance with landlord construction guidelines, organize access to sites
- Attend all key project meetings
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders, including project members, clients, sub trades, and consultants
Desired Skills
- 5-6 years’ experience in the design/construction industry or a similar position
- General knowledge of construction practices, commercial preferred
- Valid driver’s license and access to own transportation
- Good Knowledge of the BC Building Code
- Experience with city permitting processes
- Strong computer skills, must be able to use Word, Excel, Outlook, Autocadd, Sketch Up and MS Project
- Good people skills
- Formal training in Interior Design is required
