Production Lead – Custom Millwork

North Bay Woodwork is seeking an experienced Production Lead to join our team.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working alongside the team while coordinating the daily flow of production. You'll help ensure the shop has everything it needs to produce exceptional custom millwork by organizing work, maintaining inventory, supporting the team, solving problems, and keeping projects moving efficiently from drawings to installation.
This role also acts as the key communication link between ownership and the shop floor — ensuring priorities, expectations, and updates are clearly understood in both directions so production runs smoothly and efficiently.

Your Mission
Your mission is to ensure the shop has everything it needs to produce exceptional millwork every day.
You'll lead the day-to-day flow of production by organizing work, supporting the team, maintaining inventory, solving problems, and ensuring jobs move efficiently from drawings to installation.
Responsibilities
Production Leadership
- Coordinate the daily workflow of the shop
- Assign work based on production priorities
- Ensure employees have clear direction and remain productive throughout the day
- Remove obstacles that slow production and keep jobs moving efficiently
Shop Operations
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels
- Ensure materials, hardware, and supplies are available when needed
- Coordinate tooling maintenance and blade sharpening
- Arrange waste bin pickups and other routine shop services
- Complete hands-on shop production work as required (assembly, machining, sanding, finishing, etc.)
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment
Communication & Coordination
- Act as the communication link between ownership and shop employees
- Ensure priorities, changes, and expectations are clearly communicated both ways
- Bring forward shop challenges, resource needs, and production issues to ownership
- Support alignment between scheduling, production capacity, and shop workflow
Technical Support
- Answer production-related questions from the shop team
- Support installers with product and construction questions
- Review drawings, materials, and job packages before production begins
- Identify and escalate technical issues when necessary
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Verify work meets North Bay Woodwork quality standards
- Catch issues before products leave the shop
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, organization, and efficiency

After six months in this role:
- Employees know what they're working on each day
- Installers receive complete, well-prepared products
- Inventory shortages are rare
- The shop remains clean and organized
- Materials and hardware are ready before they're needed
- Problems are solved before they reach management
- Communication between ownership and the shop is clear and consistent
- Production runs smoothly, allowing management to focus on growing the business
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate:
- Has experience in cabinetmaking, millwork, woodworking, or a related trade
- Can confidently read and interpret shop drawings
- Is naturally organized and plans ahead
- Takes ownership and follows through
- Enjoys solving problems and improving processes
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Is respected by coworkers and leads by example
- Takes pride in producing high-quality work
- Is comfortable using computers and mobile devices for email and digital drawings
- Holds a valid G driver’s licence
- Has a clean criminal record check (required)
Forklift experience is considered an asset.

Pay: $27.00-$35.00 per hour
