The John Howard Society is a community-based non-profit concerned with the causes and consequences of crime. We believe that crime is a community problem that requires community-based solutions.
We are currently recruiting for a full time MiiWrap Facilitator, working with youth 12- 17.
The MiiWrap Facilitator role involves program delivery, collaborating with team members and engaging with youth, families and community.
MiiWrap combines two evidence-based practices: Motivational Interviewing and Wraparound, both of which are based on years of proven result. The Wraparound approach is recognized as being one of the best approached to working with people that have multiple, complex issues and behaviours.
The MiiWrap approach is aimed at shifting the focus from traditional problem-solving based approaches to:
- Needs vs problems
- Following a strengths-based, needs-driven approach
- Being holistic and youth & family driven
- Building on individual and family strengths and culture
- Helping families achieve positive self-identified goals and improve well-
being
- Creating a team-supported process that builds a Circle of Support to sustain
the youth and family after services.
MiiWrap centres around individual engagement with youth as well as collaboration with families, professionals and natural supports.
An important part of the position is to ensure that program integrity is maintained and documentation and reporting is required in this role.
We need a team member who:
- understands youth development and has experience in working with teens
- is a self-starter and who can demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver programs and content for youth
- shows initiative, is energetic and self-motivated
- is an excellent communicator (both written and oral)
- enjoys working as a part of a team but is also comfortable working independently
- is creative and innovative, experience in program development would be an asset
- can "think big picture" and also pay attention to the details
- enjoys a challenge and wants a rewarding and unique experience
- is organized and has demonstrated leadership qualities
- is professional and non- judgmental
- has experience securing, supporting and fostering community connections and building relationships
- is competent and confident with using technology
- has a background in human services with related formal qualifications
Ideal candidates will have a background in youth work, education, social work or mental health and an understanding of and appreciation for diversity. Knowledge of or experience with social & emotional learning and/or the wraparound model would be considered assets in this position. MiiWrap coaching and/or training will be provided to the successful candidate.
