Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Legal Assistant/Receptionist to join our legal team. This role offers an opportunity to support the Sudbury lawyer with administrative and clerical tasks while providing excellent client service. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, legal knowledge and abilities, as well as effective communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment.
Duties
- Greet clients and visitors with professionalism and courtesy, managing phone etiquette and scheduling appointments
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate filing systems using LEAP
- Draft, proofread, and review legal documents, correspondence, and reports with attention to detail
- Manage project timelines and coordinate tasks across multiple cases or projects
- Conduct interviews and gather information from clients or witnesses as needed
- Organize case files, documents, and evidence in accordance with firm procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times
- Perform general clerical duties including copying, scanning, filing, and answering phones
Requirements
- Proven administrative experience with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with legal softwares
- Excellent writing skills, including legal drafting and proofreading abilities
- Experience with project management and managing multiple priorities effectively
- Strong research skills to support case preparation and fact-finding efforts
- Proficiency in data entry, filing, and general clerical tasks
- Exceptional phone etiquette and professional communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Prior experience in a law firm or legal setting is preferred but not required
