Overview

Reporting to Senior Manager, Information Technology, our Database Analyst supports and maintains the organization’s systems including databases and dependent technologies in a cloud platform. This role will also provide Level 1 support for underlying infrastructure including the end user devices.

The applicant must be an experienced, detail-oriented IT professional who can take complete ownership of our organizations systems and the related functionality including data integrations and keep them operational at maximum efficiency, using critical independent judgment.

Operational Responsibilities

Understand the directions and strategy of the Information Technology Leadership to ensure the infrastructure is aligned with the established standards and the future roadmap.
Collaborate closely with the Operations and Technology team to ensure ongoing knowledge sharing.
Take responsibility for the configuration and the structure of the database to balance uniqueness (no data duplication) with efficiency (fast access)
Ensure all the stored procedures, reports and other triggered or scheduled jobs running in the backend, are in an optimum operating condition.
Support the Manager of Information Security analyzing IT vulnerabilities and implementing methods to address the gaps.
Act as the primary point of contact for issues and investigations related to Systems, database and dependent technologies.
Execute service delivery per the IT Service Management (ITSM) procedures published by the organization.
Develop and maintain sections of the IT operations manual that describe daily operations and inter-dependencies between different applications.
Proactively monitor database and other dependent jobs to ensure they are in an active state, are not reporting errors and that all data feeds to/from other systems have completed normally.
Take immediate action for incidents discovered or reported, to put dependent systems and users on notice so that the subsequent activities do not proceed without having refreshed data.
Perform administrative tasks pertaining to server builds, operating system upgrades, capacity planning, performance tuning, resource optimization, vendor fixes and monitoring.
Lead the backup, recovery, testing of recovery procedures and archiving of database systems.
Lead the incident and problem resolution process in accordance with predetermined Service Level Agreements.
Ensure systems stay updated on all relevant patches and upgrades by overseeing Managed Service Vendors.

Project Responsibilities

Engage in project meetings when requested, to ensure full understanding of the operations of existing Infrastructure functionality.
Work with project teams to ensure a smooth transition from the implementation and warranty to regular production support. This includes reviewing project documentation to understand and update the IT operations manual so that the contents remain accurate and current.
Education & Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 5 years’ equivalent work experience.
  • Experience of O365 Admin Centre is strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience of System Administration of Server OS (Windows and Linux)
  • 3+ years of experience with Relational Database Management System such as Oracle , SQL ,MySQL and/or Progress in a mid-size firm
  • 3+ years of experience with ETL jobs using SFTP
  • 3+ Experience supporting and administration on disaster recovery, anti-virus and backup strategies for the MS Windows and Linux platform
  • Experience in the creation of Operations documentation such as Run books, Build books
