Job Description

Reporting to the Branch Manager in Fort McMurray, the Audio Visual Lead Technician is responsible for the setup, installation, operation, testing and troubleshooting of audio, video and control related equipment.


Ideal candidate will have 3+ years’ experience combined with a great attitude. Must be a team player and passionate about providing our clients with the exemplary customer service. As an A/V Lead Technician, you will assemble components for integration, installation, operation and maintenance of equipment for different projects. Experience with Crestron and Biamp a must. Experience with Extron and Symetrix, a plus!

The Audio Visual Lead Technician must be analytical, able to read specs, plans, and hardware schematics. The candidate must have strong oral and written communication, excellent organizational skills, and solid customer service skills. Prior experience with construction management, in-depth knowledge of AV installation procedures, and management experience are all preferred. Seeking those committed to long-term employment.

Job Requirements

  • Perform installation tasks for audio visual projects including but not limited to: pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projects and metal fabrication
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints
  • Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors along with various other AV systems related tasks
  • Assist with basic mechanical fabrication and basic rack wiring
  • Projector and screen support structure installations
  • Test point to point functionality of systems
  • Field installation of control programs (AMX/Crestron) – upload and download capability
  • Mentor Level I and Level II Technicians
  • Load and test code for control and DSP systems
  • Make minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer
  • Provide site supervisor of install team with direction from the Project Manager
  • Perform client training as needed
  • Customer liaison in absence of Project Manager
  • Responsible for job documentation as needed
  • Demonstrate job site leadership
  • Travel to various job sites as required
  • Other duties assigned as needed

Skills and Abilities

  • Effectively communicate with employees, customers and colleagues

  • Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of signal flow for audio, video and control
  • Ability to manage small to large projects
  • Minor programming capability (Creston/Biamp/Extron) – changes and troubleshooting

Experience & Education

  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years of audio-visual installation experience preferred
  • Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • InfoComm CTS General Certification
  • Construction Course
  • Extron AV Associate Certification
  • Crestron Professional Installation Certification
  • Essentials of Crestron Programming
  • BIAMP Systems Audio Training
  • Valid Driver’s License and a Driver’s Abstract that meets USG Driving Privileges standards

  • Successful completion of drug & alcohol testing
