Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior CAD Designer to support the design, documentation, and production of custom projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong SolidWorks skills who enjoys creating accurate, manufacturing-ready drawings and working closely with engineering and production teams.
This position allows for a hybrid work schedule, with a mix of in-office collaboration and remote work from home.
Key Responsibilities
· Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D models in SolidWorks.
· Prepare manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, and installation drawings for production use.
· Update CAD files based on engineering changes, site/project information, revision requests, and production feedback.
· Produce and maintain BOMs, drawing packages, part details, cut lists, and revision-controlled documentation.
· Review drawings for dimensions, clearances, fit, material callouts, hole patterns, hardware locations, and manufacturing details.
· Support engineering and production teams with design clarification, issue resolution, and documentation updates.
· Help maintain organized CAD files, drawing standards, templates, and project documentation.
· Assist with standardizing commonly used parts, details, and drawing formats as required.
Required Skills (Must-Have)
· Proficiency in SolidWorks is required.
· Ability to produce clean, accurate, manufacturing-ready drawings and models.
· Strong understanding of mechanical components, assemblies, and fabricated parts.
· Ability to independently read and interpret technical drawings.
· Experience working with revisions, drawing updates, and controlled documentation.
· Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
· Solid foundation of geometry, numeracy, standard drafting principles, symbols, and nomenclature.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple drawing tasks at the same time.
· Clear communication skills and willingness to ask questions when details are unclear.
Education & Experience
· Diploma in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
· 1-3 years of CAD experience using SolidWorks.
· Co-op or internship experience will be considered if the work was CAD-intensive.
· Experience with custom manufacturing, aluminum fabrication, architectural products, or mechanical assemblies is an asset.
Nice to Have
· Manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment experience.
· Exposure to tolerances, fits, mechanical design principles, and drawing standards.
· Experience creating BOMs, revision-controlled drawing packages, or production documentation.
· Interest in custom engineered products, architectural systems, outdoor living products, or building components.

· Able to visualize how parts fit together in 3D and how drawings will be used in production.

Hybrid Work Schedule
Work Location: In person and remote
Pay: $46,000.00-$58,000.00 per year
Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Barrie, ON L4N 9S3
