The Director provides strategic direction and administrative leadership for the Curriculum and Instruction (C & I) Division of the Centre for Educational Excellence, which collaborates with stakeholders across the university to support the development of a quality curriculum for all students, and to support instructors in their efforts to provide an outstanding student experience. Reporting to the Senior Director, Centre for Educational Excellence (the Centre), The Director will participate as a member of the leadership team, liaising and collaborating with the leadership within the broader Learning and Teaching portfolio at SFU, defining and operationalizing strategic directions for the Division, and contributing to the vision of the larger Centre for Educational Excellence. The Director is responsible for ensuring alignment of the Division's activities with strategic priorities of the Centre, the Faculties and the Institution. The incumbent also plays a key role in the development and long-term sustainability of SFU's teaching and learning support network and determines methods by which the Division can support the University's priorities; provides advice and recommendations to the Senior Director. The Director represents the Division on internal committees; serves as a member of relevant regional and national professional organizations and societies; and contributes to knowledge dissemination and applied research in educational development and a scholarly approach to teaching and learning. The incumbent will oversee budget and personnel decisions, development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures, priority and planning activities, and provide effective leadership for reporting Associate Directors and Managers within the Division.

Qualifications:
Master's Degree in a relevant field and ten (10) years of related experience including experience teaching at the post-secondary level; experience in teaching development and support at the post-secondary level; experience leading course, curriculum, program development, implementation, and evaluation activities for both the face-to-face and online teaching environment, and learning and current knowledge of learning technology directions; experience supervising and managing staff; experience in financial management; experience building partnerships with key stakeholders; and experience leading course design, and development, teams; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Excellent knowledge of educational theory principles of effective practice in undergraduate and graduate teaching, and knowledge of effective instructional design using various delivery modalities.
Knowledge of best practices of English as an Additional Language support.
Current knowledge of learning technology opportunities in curriculum and course design.
