About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to become a contributing member of Rockport's Engineering Team. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with some of the best in the networking industry and experience the satisfaction of seeing your work in a product used by customers.
Partnering with Product Management to help identify required capabilities for the product road map
In collaboration with Product Management and Field Applications Engineering, identifying customer requirements for our customer solutions
Working towards a simplified System Architecture in conjunction with the software and hardware leads
Building network models (based on GNS3, VIRL, Packet Tracer, etc.) incorporating Rockport’s Technology into the network model
Define and architect network solutions that will involve products from across Rockport’s portfolio as well as 3rd party products. Define the solution architectures in sufficient detail to enable successful development, integration, and deployment of the solution.
Coordinate and align engineers from all areas of the solution to achieve a common set of objectives
Qualifications for our Ideal Candidate
BS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a technical role within the networking industry
Cisco Certification preferred (i.e. CCNP, CCDP)
Network and Security Technologies, solutions and concepts, as well as specialized knowledge within one on more core network and security domains: Network and Security infrastructure architecture, design and implementation; Data Center Routing & Switching; Campus Routing & Switching & Wireless; Security: Firewalls/ Intrusion Prevention System
IETF IP, MPLS, Segment Routing protocols and services such as IP VPNs, EVPNs, VPLS/VPWS
Experience with IP/MPLS/SR/Ethernet and related network switching & routing products and technologies
Subject matter expertise with IETF, IEEE and MEF standards
Ethernet protocols and services including MEF services, Ethernet OAM, FlexE, Ethernet protection (e.g. G.8032v2), etc.
Knowledge of optical networking concepts and technologies such as WDM, CDC ROADMs, photonic switching, OTN, GMPLS, coherent modems & modulation schemes
Knowledge of SDN concepts such as centralized control, path computation, provisioning, Netconf/YANG, and APIs is desired
Knowledge of NFV orchestration concepts including virtualization and disaggregation, NFVI infrastructure, VNF management and service chaining, and integration with cloud management platforms is desired
Programming and scripting skills plus Linux expertise preferably with a networking SDN solution
