This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.
The Licensed Practical Nurse is a one of the collaborators in the Collaborative Care Model, participating in the provision of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families and groups. As a member of the team, the Licensed Practical Nurse applies practical nursing theory in the assessment of patients, collaboration in the development of the nursing care plan, implementation of the care plan and ongoing evaluation of the patient. The LPN provides nursing services independently for patients considered stable with predictable outcomes and under direction or guidance of a registered nurse, medical practitioner, or other health care professional authorized to provide such consultation, guidance or direction for patients considered unstable with unpredictable outcomes.
Current registration or eligibility with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing required
Recent acute nursing experience required
Surgical experience preferred
Successful completion in Pharmacology course required
Successful completion in physical assessment course offered through Nova Scotia Community College is an asset
Current BCLS certification is required
Demonstrated ability to adapt to a fast-changing work environment required
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others required
Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
Strong organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks required
Previous work attendance may be considered
An equivalent combination of education and training may be considered for this position.
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
Permanent, full time position; 75 hours biweekly
$25.1659 - $27.0280 hourly
