Position Title: Assistant Production Manager
Reports to: Production Manager
Work Schedule: Regular, Full-Time, Days, Occasional Overtime

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Assistant Production Manager builds leadership strength on the production floor. Working alongside the existing Assistant Production Manager, this role develops frontline leaders, reinforces standards, and creates resilience across the team – ensuring production performance is driven by strong, consistent leadership at every level. The Assistant Production Manager amplifies leadership capacity across the floor, translating intent into daily execution. The primary focus is people leadership, not technical manufacturing expertise
Position Responsibilities:
The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for the following:
People Leadership & Development
- Coach and develop Production Leads; building their ability to set expectations, reinforce training, identify risk, and escalate issues early;
- Be present on the floor, engage with Leads and frontline employees to address gaps;
- Mentor and coach hourly employees to meet or exceed customer needs and company standards;
- Supervise and train hourly employees in pertinent production processes and equipment;
- Identify early risk with new hires (performance, fit, engagement) and take action to resolve;
- Participate in the hiring, termination, discipline, and reward of hourly employees;
- Serve as Team Lead backup for both scheduled and unscheduled time off, ensuring leadership continuity on the floor;
Team Continuity and Readiness
- Own retention awareness by identifying and addressing attrition risks early, with a focus on improving employee engagement;
- Provide the Production Manager with clear, real-time visibility into team health, capability gaps, and emerging risks;
- Be accessible for all hourly employees and departments as needed; provide feedback in a timely manner;
- Maintain an 'open-door' work environment;
Onboarding, Training & Attendance
- Ensure all employees are provided with a plant orientation, are entered into the attendance tracking system, and are trained and assessed for competency in their assigned position(s);
- Track and monitor hourly employee attendance and communicate absences to Human Resources in a prompt manner;
- Ensure the integrity of the attendance tracking system; monitor the system on a daily basis, and correct/approve hours worked as necessary;
- Coordinate and schedule overtime as required;
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all hourly employees understand and adhere to safety policies and procedures;
- Identify and control hazards in the workplace to promote a safe work environment;
- Ensure all company QMS requirements are upheld (i.e.: ISO 14001, ISO 9001, BIFMA, etc.);
- Adhere to all Allseating policies and procedures;
Continuous Improvement & General
- Actively participate in continuous improvement programs and performance improvement initiatives;
- Participate in applicable training programs and information sessions as requested by the company;
- Other duties as may be required or assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Must have strong communication skills (English written, English reading, and English verbal);
- Must have strong interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop others;
- Must have the ability to hold consistent standards and follow through on leadership expectations;
- Must be committed to teamwork;
- Must have exemplary time management skills;
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver results;
- Must have strong computer skills; an
- Must be fluent in Microsoft Office suite.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a production, warehousing, or operations environment;
- Degree or Diploma in a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Demonstrated experience supervising and developing frontline employees and/or team leads;
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TQM, and Continuous Improvement;
- Demonstrated experience upholding ISO 9001 requirements and standards; and
- Manufacturing experience is helpful but not required – demonstrated people leadership ability is the priority.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required:
Steel-toed shoes
Safety glasses, as necessary

This job is an existing vacancy at an annual salary of $70,000 to $80,000 per annum. The actual base salary for this position depends on a variety of factors such as but not limited to skills, qualifications, education and overall experience.
