Splitrock Environmental Sekw’el’was is an aboriginal owned business that specializes in environmental services, ecological restoration, ethnobotanical services, and propagation of native plants. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has a passion for the environment, who is a team player, and eager to learn. Splitrock is a multi-discipline company and the assistant will have the opportunity to assist in many different projects being undertaken at Splitrock.
Responsibilities:
The Biologist will be responsible for the following.
- Providing guidance, training and direction to junior and intermediate staff to support successful completion of projects.
- Managing multi-disciplinary projects, including budget and schedule management, client liaison, technical leadership and coordinating project teams
- Business development, including developing and managing client relationships and proposal writing
- Directing environmental assessments, regulatory approval processes, environmental monitoring, and scientific and planning studies
- Preparing high-quality technical reports, including permits and regulatory documents
- Supporting and preparing regulatory approval and permitting applications
- Liaising with clients, stakeholders, Indigenous and jurisdictional governments to provide effective and responsible project advancement
- Supporting and preparing environmental protection and mitigation plans to facilitate regulatory approvals in concert with project teams and/or project managers
- Conducting assessments for Wildlife, including bats, birds and amphibians and large mammals.
- Conducting Water quality assessments
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be a Registered Professional Biologist with extensive experience in environmental management for construction.
- Demonstrated statistical analyses skillset using a program equivalent to "R" .
- Intricate knowledge and understanding of federal and provincial regulations and legislation (environment, wildlife, water, etc.)
- Must be physically fit, this is a physical job.
- A positive attitude, ability to be flexible, and someone who thrives on diversity in their jobs.
- Willing to work remotely, on weekends and holiday, willing to work long hours
- Able to work in varying environmental conditions, extreme temperatures and in fast moving water.
- Must be able to work with wildlife and fish
- Experience working with aboriginal communities, industry and non-profit organizations.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in interactive multi- disciplinary team situation.
- Must be experienced with computers, able to write reports and use excel.
- First Aid is a benefit however we will train if necessary
- Class 5 Driver’s License
You must relocate to Lillooet. Will provide relocation allowance.
