Role Description
This full-time, on-site Home Caregiver — Health Care Aide (HCA) role is based in Calgary, AB. The Home Caregiver will provide compassionate, person-centred support to clients in their homes, assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility. The role includes monitoring clients’ well-being, following care plans, and reporting changes in condition to supervisors or healthcare professionals as required. The HCA will help with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and safe medication reminders, while promoting dignity, independence, and comfort. The caregiver will collaborate with families, community resources, and care teams to ensure high-quality, respectful, and culturally sensitive care.
Qualifications
- Strong caregiving skills with a commitment to person-centred, compassionate support
- Experience in home care and personal care, including assisting with activities of daily living
- Knowledge and practical experience in elder care and supporting aging individuals
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including clear communication, empathy, and respect for diverse backgrounds
- Health Care Aide (HCA) certification or equivalent training preferred
- Previous experience in community or home-based care settings is considered an asset
- Ability to follow care plans, maintain documentation, and work collaboratively with healthcare teams
- Physical ability to assist with transfers, mobility, and other client care tasks, following safe work practices
- Reliable transportation and availability to work various shifts, including evenings or weekends as needed
Requirements (Must-Have)
- Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSC), completed within the last 6 months.
- Current Standard First Aid certification with CPR Level C (or equivalent).
- Up-to-date immunization record, including TB screening (documentation provided upon offer).
