Posting Status:
Open to all current Town of Oakville employees and external applicants.

This posting is for current and future opportunities and will be filled on an as needed basis. Applications will be considered for any openings that become available between now and December 31, 2019.

Duration: These positions will have a maximum duration of eight (8) months. Hours of work may vary depending on operational needs.

Job Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, performs work related to the operation and maintenance of recreation facilities.
Works in a recreation facility or arena on shift work.
Performs manual duties involving simple repairs, service and maintenance work to plant equipment and properties.
Directs part-time employees and provides courteous contact and control of public within facilities.
Operates all equipment normally used in the ongoing maintenance of facilities and/or other development programs of the Recreation and Culture department, in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:
Minimum of High School education or acceptable equivalent in education and experience. Preference will be given for previous experience and/or training in the operation of a recreational facility and maintenance. Experience in operation of related equipment, demonstrated mechanical aptitude and knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety guidelines are requirements. The successful candidate must have a valid and unrestricted Ontario class G driver’s license (standard and automatic transmission). A driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behaviour. Note: Applicants with 6 or more points are ineligible for consideration. A Driver’s Abstract may be required and must be dated within the last 30 days. Successful completion of a recognized refrigeration course is required.

Please note that successful candidates, who are new hires and/or who have not performed in this position previously will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check, with vulnerable sector screening, dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment.

Willingness to undertake further training is essential. Consideration will be given to candidates who currently do not posses a Refrigeration Certificate.

Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
