This position is responsible for investigating all finished product holds, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure execution of disposition action, provide timely communication on all critical issues, and will be a part of all audit preparation.
Responsible for maintaining integrity of QA controlled documentation, maintaining finished goods hold process, and ensuring compliance to customer & AIMS requirements for product quality expectations.
Support in maintaining and updating control sheets and all other documentation in the plant
Responsible to identify and coordinate quality initiatives and decision making with the management team, production supervisor and shipping supervisor in order to ensure that food safety is not compromised.
Responsible in managing the changes in food safety systems with approval and authorization from senior management representative
Maintaining and updating Finished Product Hold Log
Schedules and coordinates internal QMS and BRC gap assessment audits
Conduct training for FSQA Specialists on product quality job tasks
Review & filing of product traceability documents.
Review of all on-line documentation for compliance prior to filing
Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
Set-up product quality photos for new and existing products, as required
Assist with shelf-life studies on new products as well as verification of shelf-life on existing products
Input data for Key Performance Indicators as required for customers and for those established for internal use
Assist whenever possible in corrective actions and preventative measures
Ensure completion and accuracy of all documentation
Participate in developing the company’s quality/food safety objectives
Responsible for complying with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (i.e.BRC, SQF)
Data analysis and reporting
Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outline in employee handbook
Keep work area clean and clear of hazards
Report an unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to supervisor immediately
Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
Ensure GMPs and safe food handling practices are being followed
Follow all GMPs including maintaining personal hygiene, hand washing / sanitizing hands, clean up spills
Report any foreign material findings
As part of food security, report any unusual people or behaviour
Provide back up support for FSQA Specialist
Other duties as required
Training & Development
Develop and review SOP’s for QA
Responsible for coaching, development and performance evaluations of all the Quality Assurance Technicians.
Product review, Samples, Evaluations
Coordinate finished product sample collection and shipment for customer review
Prepare presentations for meetings.
Support inventory control process
Conduct follow up and investigations from holds making suitable recommendations for prevention of reoccurrence.
Assist in investigation and disposition of finished product placed on hold as a result of quality issues.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Strong knowledge of quality management and food safety systems i.e. GMP, HACCP.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with all operations and departments
Precise attention to detail, report writing skills and computer literacy are essential
Enthusiastic and capable of working in a fast-paced changing environment
Ability to analyse problems and provide workable solutions
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will allow you to build strong and effective working relationships with internal and external customers

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level
Degree food science or related discipline or equivalent experience
3 years minimum in Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing environment
Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points)
Trained in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF
3 years food industry manufacturing or quality experience including supervisory
Good writing, mathematics, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Work experience in the food industry – bakery experience is an asset
Basic understanding of microbiology
Proficient in computers including spreadsheets, statistical programs, and SAP applications
