Position Summary:
The role of the Residential Construction Labourer is to safely construct projects which meet the high standards of quality set by Gemini Homes Inc. In all activities and tasks undertaken, the Labourer strives to provide the best client experience. This individual will practice and demonstrate Gemini Homes mission, vision and core values on a daily basis.
Position Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in weekly site safety meetings. Comply with all Health and Safety requirements including wearing the proper Personal Protection Equipment
- Communicate with the Site Supervisor and Site Team to report any Health and Safety concerns observed on site and in homes under construction. Assist with completing weekly Health and Safety site inspections.
- Assist with and ensure units/homes are opened up daily, inspected and locked up at the end of each day.
- Walk the site daily to observe and ensure a good overall professional and clean appearance. Adjust, fix and install lot signs, H&S signs/posters any other signage as required.
- Work safely and efficiently with both hand and battery-operated tools including but not limited to; circular saw, sawsall, drill, framing and concrete nail guns.
- Collect and dispose of any garbage or debris on construction sites placing it in appropriate designated places.
- Ensure the overall site, units, homes, site compound, storage containers and site offices are clean and safe for the trades, suppliers and Gemini personnel.
- Prepare homes for trades as required, including covering floors, scraping floors, sweeping, vacuuming, power washing and keeping the home free of all garbage and debris.
- Operate select machinery including backhoe, skid steer, lifts (training provided)
- Clearly communicate with phone calls, text and emails
- Ensure adequate waste containers are placed within the houses and throughout the site for waste collection. Waste containers shall be emptied on a daily basis.
- Maintain larger waste bins on site and coordinate pick-up and return with provider.
- Set up, maintain and tear down ramps, hoarding, fencing and safety rails.
- Protect on-going work from poor weather conditions.
- Set up and maintain temporary heat equipment during the winter season.
- Install tarps to protect on-going work from poor weather conditions.
- Winter Snow removal (shoveling) and Salting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:
Education:
· Secondary school diploma
Experience and Skills:
- Two – three years’ experience in residential construction, or related construction industry
- Valid Driver Licence with clean driving abstract
- Excellent customer service skills in working with internal team, trades and homeowners.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Positive attitude to meet and complete tasks according to timelines and direction from the site supervisor and lead hand.
- Clear with communication (verbal, Written and Cell Phone)

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday – Regular Business Hours (7:30 to 4:30 p.m. with a half hour unpaid lunch break) with after-hours availability during peak seasons.
Travel Requirements:
May be required to travel to various sites including, Guelph, Elora, and surrounding areas.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
