The Faculty of Education at Wilfrid Laurier University invites applications for a one-year full-time Limited Term Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (Waterloo Campus). This appointment will commence on July 1, 2021 and end on June 30, 2022.
The position is open to candidates who hold a PhD or Doctorate in Education, in the field of Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field. Successful candidates will be expected to teach in, and have research interests in, curriculum and instruction, focusing on K-10. Candidates must have at least three years’ experience as an elementary and/or secondary school teacher working with the Ontario curriculum. Candidates should have, at minimum, elementary teaching qualifications, with preference given to candidates holding Ontario College of Teacher Certification. Preference will be given to candidates who show evidence of experience and expertise with digital curriculum planning and assessment in a variety of contexts.
Candidates must provide evidence of a history of teaching excellence (preferably at a post-secondary level) and a productive research program, which may include scholarly work on teaching. The majority of courses taught will be offered remotely but some in person instruction and faculty service may be required. The course load will be a combination of introductory and more advanced levels within the Bachelor of Education including Curriculum Foundations; Assessment and Evaluation; and Integrated Curriculum for K to grade 10.
The Laurier Teacher Education program is based on a Professional Development School model, providing faculty the opportunity for significant interactions within the schools.
