The ESL Counselor plays a key role in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging camp experience while supporting children in developing their English language skills. In addition to supervising campers and leading activities, the ESL Counselor integrates English learning naturally into daily camp life through games, conversations, and structured activities.
The ESL Counselor is responsible for the well-being and safety of the campers assigned to them and for ensuring they have a positive, confidence-building experience. Any questions or concerns related to camper satisfaction or progress are communicated to the assigned Section Leader.
Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of a group of campers
Organize and lead group activities that encourage participation, collaboration, and English language practice
Integrate English learning into daily activities through conversation, games, and interactive exercises
Actively participate in camp activities alongside campers
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment that builds campers’ confidence in using English
Administer first aid in case of emergency, according to camp protocols
Apply appropriate discipline when necessary, following camp guidelines
Communicate camper progress, satisfaction, and any concerns to the Section Leader
Experience working with children
Strong proficiency in English (spoken and written)
Ability to communicate clearly, positively, and with enthusiasm
Interest in language learning, education, or youth development
Available to work full-time during the summer (minimum 30 hours per week for at least 8 weeks)
Bilingual English/French
