DEPARTMENT: REGIONAL DEMENTIA CARE SERVICE – OAK LODGE AND SPECIALIZED

ADULT REHABILITATION AND TRANSITIONAL SERVICE – NICKEL LODGE

POSITION: ONE (1) TEMPORARY FULL TIME CASE WORKER (CONCURRENT DISORDERS)

(APPROX. 12 MONTHS)

SITE NBRHC – KIRKWOOD PLACE (SUDBURY)

HOURS: ALL SHIFTS AS REQUIRED

Pay rate, benefits and other terms and conditions are as per the OPSEU 662 Collective Agreement

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Minimum two year diploma or degree in health/social sciences with an addiction stream required
 Recent 2-3 years’ experience in a clinical setting, supporting individuals with Concurrent Disorders
 Required Education: Motivational Interviewing, Gentle Persuasive Approaches
 Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required
 Knowledge of Best Practices for Concurrent Disorders, Substance Use Recovery, and Recovery

Oriented Practices in Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Harm Reduction, Stages of Change
 Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team
 Ability to provide a safe and non-threatening environment to patients
 Excellent crisis intervention assessment and problem solving skills
 Good attendance and work record required
 First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate required
 Maintains Professional Integrity and strict adherence to relevant legislation ex PHIPA
 Criminal Reference Verification required (see note)*
 Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients,

volunteers and visitors
 Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this

organization
 Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to

apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful
bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
