DEPARTMENT: REGIONAL DEMENTIA CARE SERVICE – OAK LODGE AND SPECIALIZED
ADULT REHABILITATION AND TRANSITIONAL SERVICE – NICKEL LODGE
POSITION: ONE (1) TEMPORARY FULL TIME CASE WORKER (CONCURRENT DISORDERS)
(APPROX. 12 MONTHS)
SITE NBRHC – KIRKWOOD PLACE (SUDBURY)
HOURS: ALL SHIFTS AS REQUIRED
Pay rate, benefits and other terms and conditions are as per the OPSEU 662 Collective Agreement
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum two year diploma or degree in health/social sciences with an addiction stream required
Recent 2-3 years’ experience in a clinical setting, supporting individuals with Concurrent Disorders
Required Education: Motivational Interviewing, Gentle Persuasive Approaches
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required
Knowledge of Best Practices for Concurrent Disorders, Substance Use Recovery, and Recovery
Oriented Practices in Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Harm Reduction, Stages of Change
Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team
Ability to provide a safe and non-threatening environment to patients
Excellent crisis intervention assessment and problem solving skills
Good attendance and work record required
First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate required
Maintains Professional Integrity and strict adherence to relevant legislation ex PHIPA
Criminal Reference Verification required (see note)*
Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients,
volunteers and visitors
Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this
organization
Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to
apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful
bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
