MCL is an experienced earthworks company based out of West Edmonton, AB, with over 23 years in the earthworks industry. We are looking to add a Fuel & Lube Technician to our compliment as soon as we find the right candidate.
Overview
We are currently looking for an experienced Fuel & Lube Technician who has class 1 or 3 license to join our dynamic team who reports to the Equipment Manager. The Fuel and Lube Technician is responsible for fueling, lubricating, and performing basic preventive maintenance on a wide variety of heavy construction equipment including excavators, dozers, haul trucks, loaders, and graders. This position plays a critical role in supporting field operations by ensuring that all machinery is properly serviced, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity on site.

Responsibilities
- Perform daily fueling and lubrication of heavy construction equipment on-site. and in the field.
- Conduct routine checks on fluid levels, inspect for leaks, and replenish lubricants as needed.
- Maintain accurate service records including hours, mileage, and maintenance logs.
- Assist mechanics with minor repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Perform oil changes and filter replacements.
- Safely operate service trucks equipped with fuel tanks, oil dispensing units, and compressed air systems.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and environmental regulations regarding fluid handling and spill containment.
- Monitor equipment condition and report defects or service needs to the Equipment Manager.
- Ensure service truck is clean, stocked, and maintained to operational standards.
- Communicate daily with supervisors, mechanics, and site foremen.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within the heavy equipment or construction industry.
- Clean driving abstract and valid class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement preferred.
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and lubrication practices.
- Ability to work independently in remote or rugged environments and in all weather conditions.
- Must be safety-oriented and familiar with job site hazards and protocols.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy components and working long shifts.
- Knowledge of spill containment and handling procedures considered an asset.
- Basic computer or tablet use for maintenance logs and service documentation.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
Additional Requirements
- Previous experience in oil sands, mining, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Current safety tickets: H2S, WHMIS, CSO, First Aid (2 day), GD.
- Mechanically inclined or working toward Heavy Duty Technician certification.
Working conditions
- 50+ hours per week (weather dependent)
