As we continue to grow, we are looking for a driven and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to join our team.
The Opportunity
Reporting to senior leadership, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for growing First General's client base and strengthening existing relationships across the insurance, restoration, and construction sectors. This is a hands-on role suited to a self-starter who thrives on building connections and closing opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, and strategic outreach.
- Follow up on inbound leads generated through marketing campaigns, events, and other channels.
- Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline with clear next steps and consistent follow-through.
- Conduct discovery meetings with prospective clients to understand their needs and decision-making process.
- Deliver compelling presentations and proposals that clearly communicate the value of First General's services.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with adjusters, insurance leaders, property managers, condo managers, hospitality and hotel managers and trade partners.
- Represent First General at industry conferences, golf tournaments, trade shows, and networking events.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align business development strategies with operational capabilities.
- Maintain accurate and current records in the CRM, including pipeline status, activity, and next steps.
- Provide regular reporting on sales activity, pipeline progress, and target achievement.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging opportunities, and the competitive landscape in the Alberta and Canadian market.
What We're Looking For
- Proven track record in business development, sales, or account management — experience in insurance, restoration, construction, or a related field is an asset.
- Strong prospecting and relationship-building skills with the ability to open doors and nurture long-term partnerships.
- Confident communicator with polished presentation and negotiation abilities.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a demonstrated ability to meet and exceed targets.
- Proficient with CRM platforms (e.g., Proven Solutions) and sales tools such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify market trends and translate them into actionable opportunities.
- Professional presence and comfort representing the company at industry events.
