The Consultant works closely with the Delivery and BA teams to provide Subject Matter Expertise to internal and external stakeholders with respect to our Clients, Industry, Products, Systems, Business Processes, Regulations and BA Best Practices. The Consultant supports the Business Analysis Center of Excellence (BACOE) by ensuring best practices and defined methodologies and processes are continuously being improved and adhered to. Specifically, the Consultant will work with the BACOE to extend the use of Sparx’s Enterprise Architect as it relates to activity diagrams, domain modelling, business rules, decision tables and decision modelling. The Consultant is a multi-faceted role that is responsible for a variety of assignments that may change as priorities change.

The Consultant, Business Analysis should be able to perform the following, taking a leadership role, with a high level of expertise in some areas:

Business Analysis Leadership:
Plan large project initiatives and provide guidance to ensure work break down structure, estimates, and plans for BA activities and deliverables are accurate

Translate changes into tangible requirements and assess product and client impact across all channels

Actively assess risks, provide mitigation plan and escalate issues to management

Ensure requirements are of the highest quality by reviewing BA artifacts and outputs within each business analysis area of knowledge including Requirements Elicitation and Definition, Requirements Management and Communication and Solution Assessment and Validation

Assist Director and Managers in developing the team, participate in hiring

Attend seminars and participate in industry groups to maintain subject matter expertise

BA Methodology:
Have excellent understanding of requirements gathering techniques, conducting structured analysis, process flows, data modeling, software development and the Project Management Life Cycle.

Develop and roll-out the BACOE processes, templates and tools as a member of the BACOE Leadership Team

Participate in the development of BACOE training materials

Create quality metrics and continually assess the quality of BACOE artifacts

Research and evaluate industry BA best practices and effectively summarize findings and recommendations for continuous improvement of BACOE methodology

Minimum Qualifications:
University degree or equivalent experience
Experience working in a in a strategic Business Analysis function with a minimum of 5 years of experience consulting towards best practices in a BA environment.
Strong project management skills are required and experience leading change when it comes to technical processes and procedures
Must have experience in projects that are large and complex
Must be able to promote dialogue, collaboration and influence and empower others
Demonstrable practical experience working with diverse groups and a variety of tools
Understanding of the regulatory bodies governing client product offerings and industry best practices
Experience with requirements analysis and requirements management tools and techniques
Experience in various project methodologies within the Software Development Life Cycle
Experience coaching and mentoring other business analysts
Must have subject matter expertise regarding industry, industry standards Finance/Banking industry, particularly in the Mutual Fund/Transfer agency/Trust Accounting/FundServ domains

Technical skills required:
Strong experience and practical use of Sparx Enterprise Architect
Strong experience in Agile and Waterfall SDLC
Relational data base analysis experience
Have a strong understanding of software development techniques, data modelling, user interface and API development
Experience with JIRA and/or Confluence software

Beneficial Skills:
CBAP certification
iFast knowledge
IFIC Operations and Procedures course
Experience with application lifecycle management tools (such as HP ALM)
Process flows development using notations like UML and BPMN
Experience developing content for BA Best Practices training
Experience with adult learning and conducting training
PMP or Scrum Master (CSM) Certification
Change Management experience
