SHIFT LEADER (multiple positions available)

Reports To: Program Supervisor, Group Services
Location: 164 Merton St and 3036 Danforth Avenue
POSITION SUMMARY
Shift Leaders provide direct support to Children, Youth and Adults in addition to providing functional support and coaching to staff, students and volunteers on shift. Core Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Support children, youth, and adults with ASD to participate in an in-Centre and community-based respite setting
Support staff in providing direct care to the participants which includes: engagement, programming, support with personal care (including toileting); maintaining health and safety at all times
Develop and support participants and staff members to engage in a variety of interactive activities that support both recreational and individualized goals.
Implementation of crisis management techniques where necessary using Crisis Prevention and Intervention
Group Management which includes: providing breaks for staff members, taking attendance, parent communication, providing feedback and collaborating with Shift Leader team
Participation in bi-weekly Shift Leader meetings
Program planning which includes: client documentation, activity planning, outing planning, team building planning, staff pairings
Ensure adequate materials (i.e., visual aids, programming materials, schedules, etc.) are provided each shift for staff team
Complete daily progress reports on each participant and other documentation, as required
Maintain regular contact with the Supervisors/Manager regarding all issues pertaining to the program.
Maintain a clean and organized work/office area
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of secondary school and a minimum of 1 year working experience providing direct support to children, youth or adults with ASD.
University/college education in a relevant discipline strongly preferred.
Understanding of the principles of applied behaviour analysis
Demonstrated problem solving and crisis management skills
Experience with managing challenging behaviours using Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques.
Valid CPR Level C Certification
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Be reliable, dependable and adaptable.
Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19
WORKING CONDITIONS
Challenging client behaviours including aggression and self-injurious behaviours
Use of CPI (training is provided)
Loud environment
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
SALARY: $26.50 plus 4% vacation pay
