Job Summary
We are seeking a vigilant and responsible Traffic Control Person to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic at construction sites and paving projects. This role involves directing vehicles and pedestrians, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting construction operations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for safety, good communication skills, and the ability to work in outdoor environments under various weather conditions. Experience with heavy equipment operation, paving, or construction is a plus but not mandatory.
Duties
- Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction zones to ensure safety for workers and the public
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barriers according to safety standards
- Communicate effectively with construction teams and drivers to coordinate movements and prevent accidents
- Monitor the work area continuously for potential hazards or unsafe conditions
- Assist with basic setup of paving or construction equipment as needed
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
- Report any incidents or unsafe conditions to site supervisors promptly
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in traffic control, heavy equipment operation, paving, or construction is advantageous but not required
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
- Good communication skills and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks including walking, lifting, and positioning barriers or signs
- Valid certification in traffic control or related safety training is a plus but not mandatory
