Heavy Oil and Oil Sands Thermal Operations is looking for a Plant Operator Training Advisor at a SAGD facility in the Edam/Vawn area. Reporting to the Thermal Training Supervisor, the Training Advisor's primary objective is to increase knowledge and awareness of staff resulting in improved plant reliability and safety. They will be directly involved in the development, operation, and refinement of the Plant Operations Training Program as well as Operator Competency Management to meet corporate, insurance underwriters, and government audit requirements.

Relocation to the surrounding area of Battleford/Edam, SK is preferred. Travel is required (work purpose only trucks are provided).

Core Responsibilities

Participate in the maintenance of the Thermal Operator Training program.
Manage and report on the training program for their respective site.
Assess the knowledge and skills of new employees and create an orientation training schedule specific to the employee.
Provide direction and training of individuals, as required, in consultation with the Thermal Operations Training Superintendent and site leadership.
Act as a technical resource for operations staff and other departments.
Participate in the development of long- and short-term training goals for both the Thermal group and the Trainer's plant to ensure that these objectives are met.
Participate in the development of and maintain a library for training and other reference materials, pertinent to the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
Champion and comply with Husky’s High Reliability Organization standards and expectations.

Experience

Experience in a training role encompassing the development, coordination, implementation and delivery of various occupational and technical training materials.
5 years’ experience in Oil and Gas Industry (Thermal SAGD operations experience would be preferred)
Proficiency with computers is required (experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, SAP would be considered an asset)
Excellent presentation / facilitation & training skills (ability to conduct & lead group meetings)
Experience with Process and Safety management systems
Skilled level of understanding of Safety and regulatory standards and procedures.

Tap Root, What-If training, Hazard and Operability reviews (HAZOP), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Loss Management and Modern Safety Management

Education & Professional Designations

Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering certification. Individuals with a 4th Class Power Engineering certificate and progress towards 3rd class certification may be considered.
Class 5 drivers’ licence. As this position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e., issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver’s abstract for the preceding 3-year period when appearing for an interview.

Assets:
Certificate in Adult education, Train-the-Trainer or Becoming a Master Instructor
Technology diploma, trade certificate or equivalent.
Gas Process Operations (GPO)/Production Field Operations (PFO) levels I, II, III, & IV or A, B, C & D.
Petroleum Technologist.

Working Conditions

Travel is required as facilities are located anywhere from 50 to 70 km from Battleford, SK (work purpose only vehicles are provided).
This position is located at a SAGD facility. Majority of time is in the office; however, there may be physical demands as well as working in various environmental conditions.

Safety Sensitive

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
