In this role, you will assess complex nursing needs and provide well-rounded care to support children and families as they experience acute and chronic illnesses. Here's What You'll Get to Do on 8A
Nurses on 8A will learn and develop a valued skillset foundational to practice in acute care clinical settings:

Management of complex intravenous and pharmacological therapies

Administration of Chemotherapy/Biotherapy

Central Venous Access Device care, maintenance and troubleshooting

Administration of blood products, oxygen therapy, enteral and parenteral nutrition
-
Recognition and management of oncologic emergencies
-
Management of care across the phases of the illness continuum, including palliative and end-of-life care.

Navigation of complex psychosocial dynamics and care challenges related to life-threatening illness and its treatment.

Involvement in new and innovative therapies and clinical trials.

Here's What You'll Need
Essential Requirements
-
Graduate of an approved Baccalaureate Nursing Program
-
Active General Class RN License through the College of Nurses of Ontario
-
Possess 1+ years of clinical nursing experience in an RN capacity (Candidates with less than 1 year of clinical RN experience are encouraged to apply to our New Graduate Nurse job opening Job ID 24162.)

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Demonstrated ability to utilize your critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Recent & related acute care nursing experience is strongly preferred
- Previous work experience in paediatrics or experience working with children is strongly preferred

Experience in nursing in haematology/oncology is preferred
