Ralston has introduced numerous innovative ‘Firsts’ to the industry. We were one of the first Canadian companies to manufacture garbage bags, CGSB Certified Vapour Barrier, and BPI Certified Compostable bags. This tradition continues today by constantly expanding our offering, delivering innovative products while allowing our customers to sell into new markets.
We have an opening for a Sales Account Manager to be based in Winnipeg and cover the Manitoba/Saskatchewan market. Reporting to the National Sales Manager – you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to new and existing accounts. The Sales Account Manager will be a split role between serving existing customers and growing them organically 60% of the time and 40% brand new account acquisition.

- Promote products and services to customers.
- Communicate regularly with branch staff in order to resolve customer issues.
- Maintain a high level of relevant product knowledge.
- Develops a proactive sales plan to increase sales of new and existing customers.
- Achieve or exceed established sales goals.
- Assists customers with problems by comparing and introducing products.
- Maintains an excellent working relationship with customers.
- Identifies and reports actual and potential cost savings to customers on a proactive basis.
- Calls on existing and new customers (cold calls) based on the sales plan.
- Provide quotations, technical support, literature, and other support materials for existing and new customers.
- Assists Inside Customer Service Representatives with the development and maintenance of customers contracts and quotes.
- Makes sales calls with vendors and sales representatives.
- Responsible for-profit margin and expenses relating to buy and sell agreements.
- Maintains customer contracts and follows up on customer quotes.
- Presents a professional image at all times to customers and vendors.
- Determines customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products.
- Determines sales potential for new and existing customers through inquiry, observation, and periodic research.
- Follows all safety protocol in compliance with Ralston's Health and Safety policies and procedures, local customer policies and procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Diversified knowledge of industrial products developed through relevant post-secondary education and/or applicable work experience in an industrial, Jan San, Food Service or Health care sales. Recent Graduates may apply.
- Previous customer service/inside sales experience is an asset and previous outside sales experience is desired.
- Ability to work independently and manage time and territory effectively.
- Superior interpersonal and customer service skills to effectively build relationships and continually strive for improved customer service.
- Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- AS400 experience an asset.
- Knowledge of the selling process
- Demonstrated team-playing attitude.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle as travel is required.
