Position Overview
As a Loss Prevention Officer, you will play a critical role in detecting and apprehending shoplifters, minimizing financial loss due to theft, and documenting incidents through detailed apprehension and prevention reports. You will work closely with local law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of our client's retail locations.
This is an ideal opportunity for candidates with education in Police Foundations or Private Security, and for those looking to build a meaningful career in public safety and retail protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct plain clothes surveillance to detect and apprehend shoplifters
- Minimize financial loss related to theft and fraud
- Write detailed apprehension and prevention reports
- Follow company and client policies and procedures
- Collaborate with store management and law enforcement as needed
Requirements
- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence (required)
- Basic understanding of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act, and Powers of Arrest
- Ability to communicate effectively with first responders, staff, and management
- Availability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, and weekends
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
- Willingness to travel up to 50%
