Job Description
We are seeking a Transportation Modeller specialized in micro-modelling and simulation-based modelling to join our urban transportation team in Canada. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of sophisticated transport modelling solutions that shape the future of urban mobility across the region. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical capabilities with practical expertise in transportation systems, delivering data-driven insights that inform infrastructure development and policy decisions.

Develop, calibrate, and validate advanced transport models using industry-standard software (VISSIM, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, ARCADY, DYNAMEQ, AIMSUN, or similar platforms) to analyze traffic operation conditions, junctions and network performance.

Utilize and update transport models to assess the impacts of road closures and construction detour plans at corridor and junction levels.

Coordinate the modelling work and data exchange between strategic models and micro-level simulation models.

Conduct comprehensive transportation studies including transportation master plans, traffic management plans, traffic impact assessments, corridor studies, active transport plans and parking studies.

Analyze complex transportation data sets and synthesize findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders and decision-makers.

Design and execute scenario modelling to evaluate the impact of proposed transport interventions, policy changes, and infrastructure investments.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, urban planners, and government agencies to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and visualizations that communicate modelling results and planning recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Stay current with emerging transport planning and traffic engineering methodologies, modelling tools, and best practices in the industry.

Mentor junior modellers and contribute to the professional development of the team.

Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Participate in stakeholder engagement sessions and public consultations to gather input and communicate planning initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
-
University Degree in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering or relevant field.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in micro-level transportation modelling, traffic engineering, and / or related traffic engineering and infrastructure planning roles.

Advanced proficiency with transport modeling software such as VISSIM, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, ARCADY, DYNAMEQ, AIMSUN, and / or equivalent platforms

Strong expertise in junction modelling, traffic simulation, and network analysis.

Demonstrated experience with CAD, GIS software and data analysis.

Excellent project management capabilities with proven ability to deliver complex assignments on schedule.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.

Solid understanding of traffic engineering principles, urban mobility concepts, and transportation policies.
Preferred:

Experience working on transportation projects in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

Experience with construction traffic management and modelling detour plans.

Familiarity with public transportation planning and integrated mobility solutions.

Knowledge of sustainable transport initiatives and environmental impact assessment.

Proficiency in additional programming languages or data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).

Proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical software (Python, R, SQL, or similar).

Professional registration / certification in transportation planning or traffic engineering.

Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships.

Background in urban planning or civil engineering complementing transport modelling expertise.
