Tutoring Services Associate (I/O)

The incumbent facilitates the activities of course and program-level tutors in consultation with the Learning Services team and supports the recruitment and administration of course and program-level tutors, including onboarding, training, scheduling, and supporting tutors in their role of supporting student learning. The Tutoring Services Associate engages regularly with the tutors by conducting check-ins (tutorial observations) and facilitating bi-weekly group sessions for tutors to connect and troubleshoot issues. The incumbent facilitates the weekly activities of the course-level tutors (provides direction on when and what to communicate to faculty, ensures attendance is taken in sessions, ensures tutors complete reports).

What You’ll be Doing

Facilitating the activities of course and program-level tutors in consultation with the Learning Services team:

Supporting recruitment and administration of tutors including preparing paperwork of new student hires and onboarding and training each term including midterm training sessions and bi-weekly troubleshooting sessions in group format as well as training as needed;

Facilitating the weekly activities of the course-level tutors; providing direction on when and what to communicate to faculty, ensuring attendance is taken in sessions, and tutors complete reports;

Conducting outreach and regular communication with faculty members to ensure tutoring is running smoothly in their course(s) and soliciting updates or changes from faculty for the upcoming term;

Engaging in data-analysis and regularly reporting on trends and outcomes of course and program-level tutoring to the Manager and tutoring team members;

Collecting usage data on tutoring attendance through weekly surveys conducted by tutors and ensuring they are accurately entered into SharePoint;

Providing support to the Tutoring Centre in collaboration with Learning Services Coordinators and Learning Services Student Associates;

Performing other related duties as assigned.

About You

You have excellent oral and written communication skills.

You enjoy balancing many different tasks and can prioritize multiple projects while staying organized and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:

2-year diploma in Business, HR, Liberal Arts, Communications, Education, or a related field along with a minimum of 1-year experience providing student academic support services in a post-secondary environment such as Peer Assisted Learning (PAL), tutoring, peer-mentoring (equivalency will be considered).

Campus Location: Trafalgar (may be assigned activities at any Sheridan campus) once normal campus operations resume. This position is currently working in a hybrid model, on-site and remote.

Hourly Range: $27.93 - $32.38

Hours: Vary; Tuesday – Thursday: 8:30 – 4:30pm, Friday – Saturday: 11:00 – 7:00pm.

Hours/Week: 35
