Position Purpose
Provides front-line service by furnishing information and customer service to Resource Centre users, including students, professors, researchers and external users, to support their academic success, teaching mission, research activities or other knowledge enquiries. Helps clients in using the Centre’s printed and electronic resources to meet their needs. Supports various projects and activities related to the Resource Centre’s user experience. Assists in managing the Centre’s printed and electronic collections, and in opening and closing the Centre.

Essential Qualifications
Postsecondary education in a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience
At least one year’s experience in customer service
Knowledge of university libraries and of the bibliographic elements required to conduct documentary research
Knowledge of integrated library system management
Knowledge of current computer systems and applications, including word processing software, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, email and the internet
Ability to handle and interpret electronic data and to accurately calculate, verify and record data
Ability to make presentations to groups in French or English
Ability to interact and communicate well with a variety of clients (students, professors, support staff, managers, members of the public) both orally and in writing
Ability to analyse and identify customer needs, pinpoint the source of problems and suggest solutions
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work well as a team member
Available to work on a flexible schedule that varies to meet the needs of the service and may include evenings and weekends.
Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written) suitable for a front-line position
