Reporting directly to the Director of Care the scheduling clerk is responsible to coordinate the daily staffing of the Nursing Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing professional clerical support to the Nursing Department by assisting with completion of schedules, staff assignments and arranging for call-ins to ensure proper and approved staffing levels are maintained at all times, according to policies and Collective Agreements as applicable; interacting with employees; conducting tours
- Performing filing, general correspondence, report writing
- Answering telephones, transferring calls, taking messages for the nursing staff
- Assisting with the maintenance and delivery of nursing department supply inventory
Job Requirements:
- Secondary School Graduation Diploma
- Related post secondary training in medical office/nursing unit clerk areas of study, preferred
- Experience in a Long-Term Care Home or with seniors preferred
- Police background clearance for vulnerable persons sector
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, working knowledge of Excel and Word, data management and collective agreements
- Cooperative team player in a busy multi task environment
- Ability to speak, read and write English and to follow oral and written directions
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines
- Understanding and empathy for the needs of seniors
