Wood is seeking an Americas Training and Competence Leader , covering the Americas, to join our Intelligent Assets Team in Vancouver.
The Role
The Americas Training and Competence Leader directs and guides the growth, development and delivery performance of the Wood Training and Competence Consultancy service line across the Americas.
Provides discipline leadership through hands-on, billable delivery of Operations Readiness services across the respective region, acting as a senior subject matter expert (SME) and client-facing consultant.
Leads the technical direction, quality and consistency of deliverables within their discipline (e.g., Training & Competence, Maintenance Consultancy, Operations Documentation, Technical Content Creation & Management, Operations Readiness, Project Controls), ensuring work is delivered safely, to required standards, and in line with Wood governance.
Supports business development by shaping solutions, contributing to proposals and estimates, and identifying growth opportunities, while maintaining high personal utilization and supporting team chargeability.
Coaches and develops practitioners through technical mentoring, peer review and knowledge sharing; retains direct line management responsibility for discipline team members within region, while contributing to global capability alignment and standards.
Accountable for performance management, development, wellbeing and utilization, while maintaining a strong personal billable contribution and technical leadership focus.
Contributes to global discipline capability by sharing best practice, supporting cross-region delivery, and ensuring alignment with global methods, standards and tools.

Expected:
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Scientific Discipline, Learning & Development, Information Management or related field; or equivalent experience in an operational / technical organization.
- Relevant professional accreditation or chartership (desirable) aligned to discipline (e.g., engineering, maintenance, L&D, technical authorship, information management).
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Strong track record of delivering consulting or operational improvement work within Operations Readiness / Operations & Maintenance contexts.
- Demonstrable discipline expertise in one of: Training & Competence, Maintenance Consultancy, Operations Documentation, Technical Content Creation & Management, Project Controls, Operations Readiness Programs.
- Client-facing experience including facilitation, workshops, requirements capture and presenting complex topics clearly.
- Working knowledge of management systems and governance (quality, HSSEA, document control, assurance/peer review).
Personal attributes:
- Delivery-focused with a strong bias to client value, quality and timely execution.
- Clear communicator (written and verbal) with ability to influence stakeholders without formal authority.
- Collaborative team player who mentors others and shares knowledge.
