Cultural Experiences Manager
Location: Métis Crossing, Smoky Lake, AB
Closing Date: Until Suitable Candidates Found
Position Status: Full time
Step Into a Story That’s Bigger Than You.
At Métis Crossing, you won’t just find a workplace, you’ll find a calling. This is a place where the past breathes through every fiddle strum, every bead, every story told around a crackling fire under the northern sky.
Perched on the banks of the majestic North Saskatchewan River, Métis Crossing is Alberta’s first major Métis cultural destination; a place of learning, healing, and celebration. Our Lodge, Cultural Gathering Centre, and sweeping landscape are not just buildings or land; they are living reflections of Métis pride and perseverance.
And now, we’re looking for a Cultural Experiences Manager who is ready to create experiences that move hearts, open minds, and connect guests to the spirit of the Métis people.
If you believe stories can change the world, this might be your moment.
What You’ll Get to Do
As our Cultural Experiences Manager, you will be the heartbeat of how Métis Crossing is experienced. You’ll design programs that bring culture to life; from hands-on workshops and fireside storytelling to immersive seasonal celebrations that leave lasting impressions.
This role combines creative planning with hands-on engagement in cultural experiences where no two days are alike. It’s about building connection between guests and interpreters, past, present and future, spirit and land.
- Dream up and lead authentic Métis experiences for visitors from all walks of life, from curious school groups to international travelers.
- Work closely with Knowledge Holders and artisans to bring traditional art, music, and skill workshops to life.
- Mentor and inspire your Cultural Team to create legendary moments for every guest.
- Collaborate with our Business Development and Marketing teams to share these experiences with the world.
- Contribute to Métis Crossing’s growing cultural legacy and help shape guest experiences that endure.
Every program you develop, every team member you mentor, every guest you inspire becomes part of the story of who we are and who we are becoming.
Who You Are
You’re not looking for just another job - you’re looking for purpose. You’re curious, creative, and deeply passionate about culture, people, and experience.
You have:
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Indigenous Studies, Recreation, Tourism, Education, or a related field.
- Experience designing and delivering engaging programs (cultural, recreational, or educational).
- Knowledge and appreciation of Métis history, traditions, and communities.
- A gift for inspiring people, whether it’s your team, your guests, or a classroom full of students.
- A willingness to learn, collaborate, and build something truly meaningful.
The Life You’ll Step Into
Imagine starting your day with mist rising over the river valley, knowing that what you do today helps share and preserve Métis stories for future generations. Imagine leading a team that learns together, laughs together, and celebrates culture every single day. Imagine being surrounded by art, music, nature, and history… not behind glass, but living and breathing all around you.
At Métis Crossing, your work matters. You’ll help others feel what it means to be part of something bigger, something sacred and enduring.
