Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The Park features historical buildings, costumed interpreters, working antiques, and various exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.
Job Overview:
As the Manager of People and Culture at Heritage Park, this role will serve as a key member of the people leadership team, responsible for executing strategic initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive company culture, enhance employee engagement, and ensure the overall well-being of the workforce. This role requires an experienced HR professional with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of HR best practices.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership

Work with the leadership to develop and execute comprehensive HR strategies and key performance indicators that drive organizational change and align with the company’s vision, mission, and values

Evaluate emerging HR and volunteer engagement trends and impacts to business operations and adjust program management accordingly

Foster a culture of inclusivity, diversity and engagement
Human Resources Management

Lead the HR team in the efficient and cost-effective delivery of HR services, including total compensation and employee relations.

Leverage data, analytics and HR systems to optimize HR processes and inform decision-making.

Implement HR policies and procedures that support the organization's strategic objectives.

Conduct periodic compliance audits to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
-
Lead employee relations matters from coaching, conflict resolution, and mediation to workplace investigations for employees and volunteers.

In charge of coaching managers on performance management and progressive discipline processes.
-
Manage Heritage Parks labour relations, interpreting and applying the collective agreement.
-
Create a culture of trusted partnerships with all employees and stakeholders, providing resources and advisory services.
-
Manage internal communications strategies to promote transparency, engagement and alignment with organizational goals. Foster a culture of effective communication and feedback.

Oversees the management of workplace accommodations and return-to-work planning for all staff, including WCB and non-occupational claims, in accordance with the collective agreements and best practices.

Develop and implement comprehensive wellness programs to promote the physical, mental and emotional well-being of employees.

Recommends engagement strategies and initiatives to the senior leadership team based on regular requirements, industry standards and organizational needs.

Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety by complying with Heritage Park's Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS), following safe work practices, reporting work-related incidents, injuries and hazards, participating in employer training, and adhering policies including the Code of Conduct and the Workplace Violence and Harassment Policy

Demonstrate responsible stewardship of our people, collections and financial assets by ensuring that they are handled with integrity, sustainability, and a focus on long-term benefits for the organization and its stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
-
University degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field; a master’s degree would be an asset. Advanced training in Business Management or Labour Relations is considered an asset.

5+ years of Human Resources experience at an organization-wide level with diverse responsibilities.
-
Minimum 2 years of experience in people and project management with a focus on total compensation and employee engagement initiatives. Experience working in a non-profit, tourism, or related area.

Must be an active member of CPHR or a similar HR Association. CPHR or CHRL designation is preferred.

Experience coaching managers and supporting team members is required.
-
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence at all levels of the organization.
-
Experience managing a department with team members with diverse responsibilities is required.
-
Ability to work well under pressure, individually and as part of a team.
-
Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills. A certified workplace investigator is highly desired.

Strategic thinking skills – future-oriented mindset, trend analysis, challenge assumptions, innovate and create.
