New employees must provide documentation of a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St. Mary’s General Hospital. No staff will be allowed to start work without clearance through Employee Health and Wellness.

The Communication Clerk in Bed Management is the central director of patient flow who ensures the appropriate placement of each patient in the right bed in the right unit in a timely manner. All communication will be through the Bed Management Clerk who under the supervision of the Patient Flow Coordinator makes decisions for patient flow.

This position works as part of a collaborative model with the Patient Flow Coordinator, patient services staff and physicians. Bed management philosophy is based on patient safety and established according to the corporate and/or program specific needs.

Position Requirements
Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
Graduate of a Certified Medical Terminology Course
Minimum three (3) years of previous office experience; Preference will be given to candidates with previous Communications Clerk experience.
Keyboard at 50 w.p.m., plus experience with Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Meditech system an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work with teams and individuals
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
