ESL Instructor
Position Overview
DEA Canadian College is seeking a passionate and dedicated ESL Instructor to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English language instruction to adult learners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support students in achieving their educational, professional, and personal goals through effective language training.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging ESL lessons that align with program learning outcomes.
- Create a supportive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
- Assess student performance through assignments, quizzes, projects, and classroom participation.
- Provide constructive feedback and academic support to promote student success.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials appropriate for varying English proficiency levels.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student progress records.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, technology, and educational resources to enhance learning.
- Encourage the development of students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
- Collaborate with academic staff and administration to support program quality and continuous improvement.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and institutional initiatives as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field.
- TESL, TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent ESL teaching certification preferred.
- Previous experience teaching ESL/EFL students, preferably in an adult education or post-secondary setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong classroom management and organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms is an asset.
