Full-Time Early Childhood Educator (ECE IT, ECE, or ECEA)
Little Gems & Little Star Child Care Centres are currently seeking a caring, energetic, and reliable Early Childhood Educator Infant Toddler (ECE IT), Early Childhood Educator (ECE), or Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) to join our team immediately.
This is a full-time floating position between our Infant Toddler Centre and our Preschool 3-5 Centre, both located in Qualicum Beach. The successful candidate will enjoy working with children of various ages and be comfortable adapting to the needs of both programs.
Position Details
- Start Date: Immediately
- Location: Qualicum Beach, BC
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 8-hour shifts with a paid break
- Shift Times: Vary between 7:30 AM and 5:15 PM depending on centre needs
- Wage: Competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience

- 1 week during Spring Break (March)
- 1 week at the end of August

- Vacation pay is accrued and paid out on each pay cycle at 4–6%, based on years of service in accordance with BC employment standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children
- Plan and implement engaging, play-based activities that support all areas of child development
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
- Assist children with daily routines including meals, toileting, rest time, and transitions
- Observe and document children's development and learning
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
- Support children's social-emotional development and guide positive behaviour
- Participate in outdoor play, community outings, and field trips
- Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety policies, and centre procedures
- Work collaboratively with educators across both centres
Qualifications
- Valid BC ECE IT, ECE, or ECEA Certificate
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Criminal Record Check completed prior to employment
- Knowledge of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and adaptable to working with different age groups and classroom settings
- Passion for play-based learning and creating meaningful experiences for children
