Reporting to the Laboratory Unit Supervisor for Microbiology, supervises and directs evening shift staff, performs laboratory procedures and carries out related technical and administrative duties such as participating in quality assurance, orientation, and student training programs and providing input into staff evaluations and the budget. Liaises with Laboratory and other hospital staff to coordinate workflow and resolve problems as required.
Successful completion of a recognized diploma program in Medical Laboratory Technology. Successful completion of recognized competency assessment exam and registration in the relevant field(s) of practice in accordance with the Canadian Alliance of Medical Laboratory Professionals Regulators (CAMLPR) pathways, or certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) . Advanced Registered Technologist (A.R.T.) certification or B.Sc. in Microbiology an asset. Four years recent experience in Microbiology required, one year of supervisory experience and evening shift experience an asset, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
