Matrix HR is hiring Apprentice and Journeyperson / Red Seal Welders for a long-term, high-profile shipbuilding project in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Referral Bonus
Matrix HR offers a $200 referral bonus for each referred individual who is successfully hired for this project.
To qualify for the referral payment, the referred employee must complete a minimum of one week of work on Matrix HR payroll.
Job Details
- Location: Halifax, NS
- Schedule: Monday–Friday
- Hours: 8 hours/day
- Night/Backshift Premium: $3.00/hour
- Additional overtime may be available based on project requirements

Key Responsibilities
- Perform SMAW and FCAW welding in all positions
- Operate welding, flame-cutting, and air arc cutting equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding specifications, and technical drawings
- Perform welding and fabrication work within a shipbuilding and steel repair environment
- Follow all site safety procedures and project requirements
Qualifications
- Red Seal / Journeyperson Welder certification OR active membership in an apprenticeship program
- Valid Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications
- WHMIS certification
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Able to successfully complete required Government Security Clearance and background checks
- Full PPE
- Fit-tested respirator mask
- Previous shipbuilding, industrial, or heavy fabrication experience is an asset
Physical & Working Conditions
Candidates must be able to:
- Work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, and platforms
- Work in confined spaces
- Stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the shift
- Work indoors and outdoors, including in varying weather conditions
- Regularly handle, lift, carry, and set up equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- Occasionally lift or carry items exceeding 50 lbs
- Work extended hours and overtime when project requirements dictate
