About the Project: Seat at the Table

CCSN is building a powerful cohort of trained patient-leaders to validate lived experiences in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivor care, and to participate in growing opportunities for the inclusion of patient voices on decision-making bodies.

In order to advance this Seat at the Table Project, CCSN is creating an 11-module e-learning course on The Science of Cancer to provide patients, survivors, and caregivers with the training they need to effectively and confidently participate in cancer and other health care boards, committees, and research peer review committees where decisions are being made about cancer diagnosis, treatment, post-treatment care and research funding.

About the Position

As the Instructional Designer: eLearning Specialist, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of the e-learning Science of Cancer course. This role includes working closely with the project’s Curriculum Committee, subject matter experts, and the CCSN team to develop interactive and engaging content using course authoring software and learning management system publishing. This is a three-month full time contract with possibility of renewal. Salary according to education and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Create engaging and informative multimedia content using course authoring software (Articulate 360)

Publish the course through an online learning management system, keeping the system up to date

Match content to learning objectives and implement various forms of assessment to ensure these learning goals are being met

Design games, quizzes, and other interactive elements for the course

Ensure that the course maintains a dynamic, intuitive, and visually appealing interface for users

Adhere to best practices in adult online education and keep up to date with changing perspectives in the field

Work closely with the Curriculum Committee and subject matter experts to develop, revise, and present course content

Skills

Proficiency with online course development tools (particularly SCORM and Articulate), and experience with the course development process

Proficiency with LMS publishing tools

Superb writing and communication skills

Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

Excellent creative thinking and problem-solving skills

Flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities

Keen attention to detail with the ability to catch major and minor errors in spelling and grammar, as well as in content and consistency

Time management, organizational, and project management skills

Knowledge of health sciences or health care is an asset

Graphic design is an asset

Experience

Post-secondary degree in adult education (or a teaching certificate), graphic design, web development, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

1-2 years of experience in online adult education or course development

Experience with online course authoring tools, particularly Articulate

Experience administrating and managing LMS software
