Job Title: Shipping/Logistics Lead

Position Summary
The Shipping Lead oversees daily shipping operations to ensure all outbound orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. This key role is positioned at the merging of team workflows, they will verify documentation, maintain shipping standards, and collaborate with operations,warehouse, production, and customer service teams to support timely order fulfillment and other logistical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily shipping activities including labeling, and staging outbound orders.
- Document knowledge: prepare and process shipping documents (BOLs, manifests, customs forms, Certificate of Origin, carrier labels).
- Verify shipment accuracy (quantities, product codes, packaging integrity, and documentation).
- Coordinate pickups and deliveries with carriers such as FedEx, LTL, and freight partners.
- Understanding and troubleshooting shipping delays, shipping errors or system issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor KPIs such as order accuracy, late shipments, and on-time shipments.
- Standardizing Shipping Practices: exploring and maintaining best practices in packaging, labeling, tracking, and carrier selection to minimize errors, damage, and transit times.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot shipping discrepancies, handle returns, and manage events like lost or damaged packages.
- Allocate daily tasks, monitor workflow, and adjust priorities based on order volume and deadlines.
- Assist with inventory control, ordering of shipping supplies, cycle counts, warehouse organization, and process improvements as needed.
- Train, mentor, and support shipping team members to ensure consistent performance and adherence to procedures.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a shipping or logistics position; 1+ year in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
- International Shipping Expertise: we are looking for proven experience in international shipping requirements, including knowledge of INCOTERMS, export/import documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, bills of lading, Certificate of Origin, 5106 forms), and global trade regulations and requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of shipping systems (FedEx Ship Manager, ERP/WMS tools).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Strong sense of the importance of time-based activities and deadlines and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, and time-management skills with a commitment to process, accuracy and quality.
- Strong attention to detail and organization such as meticulous record-keeping, monitoring and compliance with safety standards, forklift certification or willingness to obtain one is an asset.
