Royal Scot Hotel & Suites is a welcoming, well-established hotel located in the heart of Victoria's Inner Harbour. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional hospitality and creating memorable experiences for every guest. We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Guest Service Agent/Front Desk/ Bellman to join our team.
This is a dynamic position that combines front desk operations with guest services and bellperson duties. The successful candidate will enjoy interacting with people, providing personalized service, and contributing to a positive guest experience from arrival to departure.
Key ResponsibilitiesFront Desk Duties
- Welcome guests with a warm, professional, and friendly attitude.
- Complete guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently and accurately.
- Process reservations, modifications, cancellations, and room assignments.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to guest inquiries.
- Process payments, balance cash transactions, and maintain accurate guest accounts.
- Handle guest requests, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Maintain an organized and professional front desk area.
- Follow hotel policies, procedures, and security standards.
Guest Services & Bellperson Duties
- Greet arriving guests at the entrance and assist with luggage to and from guest rooms when requested.
- Escort guests to their rooms and provide information about hotel amenities and services.
- Assist guests with directions, transportation arrangements, restaurant recommendations, and local attractions.
- Deliver luggage, packages, amenities, and guest requests to rooms promptly.
- Monitor and maintain the hotel lobby, entrance, and common areas to ensure they remain clean, welcoming, and presentable.
- Report maintenance or housekeeping issues.
- Respond promptly to guest service requests such as extra towels, bedding, cribs, or other amenities.
- Support the housekeeping and maintenance teams during busy periods as needed.
- Assist with other operational tasks when required.
General Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service at every guest interaction.
- Build positive relationships with guests and colleagues.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest information.
- Follow health, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations.
Qualifications
- Previous hotel, hospitality, tourism, or customer service experience is preferred.
- Experience using a hotel Property Management System (PMS) is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and carry luggage (up to approximately 50 lbs).
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence is considered an asset.
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
