Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Counsellor to support students' emotional, social, and academic development. The ideal candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to foster a positive learning environment. This role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and experience working with children in educational settings. The School Counsellor will play a vital role in promoting student well-being and helping students navigate personal challenges.
Duties
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students to address emotional, behavioral, and social issues
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop strategies that support student success and well-being
- Assist students with developing coping skills, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities
- Support students with special education needs by coordinating appropriate interventions and accommodations
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and recommend appropriate resources or referrals
- Organize workshops or programs focused on mental health awareness, social skills, and resilience building
- Maintain confidential records of counselling sessions and student progress
- Engage with parents and guardians to discuss student concerns and progress as needed
Experience
- Prior classroom experience or teaching background is highly desirable
- Proven experience working with children in educational or counselling settings
- Familiarity with special education practices is a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
- Experience in developing individualized support plans or behavioral interventions is advantageous
