Over the next five years, Agnico Eagle will hire over 600 people across our Nunavut mining operations to help us bring two new sites into production. Meliadine is now under construction and is expected to begin operating in late 2019. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. The site will feature a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex. We expect to operate Meliadine for at least 14 years and we will need to hire over 900 people to help us mine this rich new deposit.

Reporting to the Maintenance General Supervisor, the Maintenance Supervisor will perform his/her duties as a member of the Maintenance department and collaborate with other departments of the division. The incumbent ensures the good maintenance practices of the team under his / her supervision in terms of the preventive, corrective and modification maintenance, as well as playing a key role in the execution and follow up of the performed maintenance duties. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures goals and objectives are attained, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s company culture, health and safety code of conduct, and the environment.

Supervise and coach a multidisciplinary maintenance team of mechanics and welders;
Evaluate work order requests with General Supervisor and organize the weekly jobs to execute according to the weekly schedule and to the level of urgency; may plan and approve the maintenance to be done for urgent cases;
Ensure that preventative and corrective maintenance work is being performed properly and on schedule; Ensure that procedures are followed in accordance with the company’s health, safety and environment regulations;
Verify the adequate procedure(s) to follow before taking action, apply these and communicate these clearly to the team;
Review key performance indicators (KPI’s), decide on corrective measures to be taken and communicate these to the team;
Assist the General Supervisors with the preparation of the departmental budget and ensure that budget is respected;
Apply the principles and practices of the Supervision Formula;
Lead by example by applying and reviewing the best operations practices in the everyday job;
Ensure proper transfer of information with the cross shift.


Maintenance Technician/Technologist Certification, Certified tradesman, or a combination of education (graduate of college maintenance program) and work experiences;
Engineering degree will be considered an asset;
Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in mining operations or relevant experience;
Knowledge of mobile, electrical, & fixed plant equipment;
Proficiency in maintenance planning using computerized maintenance software;
JDE experience would be considered an asset;
Cultural awareness and understanding of work in the Canadian Arctic is an asset;
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead and coach a team;
Must have good organizational skills, problem solving ability and familiarity with maintenance terminology;
Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
Advanced English language skills, written and spoken;
Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
