You do not need to be certified for this position, but some experience is required :)
There is a wide rage of pay as it depends on experience. This number will be discussed during interviews.
Note for Apprentices: We have a certified Automotive Mechanic on staff. He Is able to teach and sign off on training for anything Automotive (not including transmissions).
This is a Poultry farm. We have several large tractors and implements for cropping our 2000 acres. Therefore, there is quite a bit of tractor maintenance done year round. But also keeping the barns in good working condition is the top priority. This involves feed motors, fan repairs, heater repairs and so on. This requires going in to the poultry barns so if feathers or strong smells bother you this probably is not the job for you.
We have a mechanic shop that is insulated and heated. This being said not all the work done is in the shop. Some repairs are done outside especially in the summer when most of repairs are done in field when possible. Trucks Provided for Field calls including parts runs and day to day out of shop repairs :)
The shop is locked on evenings and weekends so if you wish to bring your own tools then that is okay. The only people who have keys to the shop are the mechanics and the owners (myself and my father).
We do offer vacation pay.
Hours in the winter are pretty standard, Monday-Friday 8-5 and alternate weekends and evenings on call with the other mechanic here. The spring and Fall are a bit more hectic with all the gear rolling. Both mechanics are expected to work regular hours and be on call 24/7 for equipment repairs as keeping the gear rolling is very important in these seasons.
