Our growing Ladner office is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join our firm.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior candidate looking to work in a strong team, with a diverse range of real estate, wills and estates and corporate commercial work. The successful candidate will have the benefit of training and support, and exposure to the varied work, as well the opportunity for continued growth and long-term stability within the firm!
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing invoices for lawyers and senior paralegals and keep track of disbursements
- Providing reception coverage
- Maintaining bring forward system and ensuring files are organized
- Opening and closing files for real estate matters
- Obtaining client information for residential real estate matters
- Assisting senior assistants and lawyers with real estate closings
- Performing conflict searches
- Drafting and sending correspondence to clients, purchasers, solicitors, and financial institutions
- Drafting reporting letters to clients and lenders
- Managing intake of documents and file related materials and updating binders
- Frequent communication with lawyers and senior assistants in charge of transactions
- Assist with other administrative matters
Education and Qualifications
- Legal Administrative Assistant Certification
- 1+ years of relevant experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Basic knowledge of BC Online, myLTSA, and required real estate forms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate at all levels of an organization
- The ability to multi-task and manage tasks under a time-sensitive environment
- The ability to practice sound discretion and judgment at all times
