Glen Hill Gardens is an exciting new long-term care community opening in Bowmanville. As part of Durham Christian Homes, a charitable, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing exceptional care to seniors, we are expanding our Programs Team and are currently hiring Part-Time and Casual Activity Aides.

What You’ll Do
As an Activity Aide, you will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide engaging recreation and leisure programs that support residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual well-being.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and leading recreational, therapeutic, and social activities
- Supporting residents during group and one-to-one programs
- Assisting with outings, special events, and seasonal celebrations
- Encouraging resident participation and engagement
- Supporting individualized care plans and recreation goals
- Documenting participation and program outcomes
- Building positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers, and team members
- Promoting a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment
What We’re Looking For
- Diploma or Degree in Recreation & Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field
- Experience in long-term care or working with older adults is preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care and programming for seniors
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Basic computer skills
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Passion for enhancing quality of life for seniors

This is a newly created position being added as part of the opening and expansion of our new Glen Hill Gardens long-term care home.
Conditions of Employment
The successful candidate will be required to provide and/or complete:
- A current Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) completed within the past six (6) months
- Proof of compliance with Glen Hill’s COVID-19 Immunization Policy
- A current two-step TB test or chest x-ray in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act
