General Manager | Chateau Nova Peace River | Peace River, Alberta
Nova Hotels is a Canadian, family-owned and operated hotel group with 13 full and limited-service hotels across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories. Nova began in Yellowknife in 2000 and has grown into one of Western Canada’s larger independent hotel groups, with a strong portfolio of hotels, multiple brands, almost 2,300 guest rooms, and more than 100,000 square feet of meeting space.
At Nova, hospitality starts with people. We care about creating comfortable stays for our guests, memorable experiences for our clients, and supportive workplaces for our teams.
Whether we are welcoming a guest, supporting a team member, growing the business, or solving an operational challenge, our team shows up with care, accountability, and a willingness to find a way.
We are looking for an experienced General Manager to lead Chateau Nova Peace River in Peace River, Alberta.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on hotel leader who understands operations, financial performance, guest service, team development, and community relationships. The right person will be comfortable owning the full hotel operation while working closely with corporate leaders to drive results.
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and overall performance of Chateau Nova Peace River. This includes hotel operations, financial management, sales and revenue growth, guest satisfaction, cost control, compliance, team leadership, and employee retention.
As General Manager, you will set the tone for the property. You will lead by example, support department leaders, make practical business decisions, and ensure the hotel delivers strong service, strong results, and a positive workplace culture.
This role is ideal for someone who is both strategic and hands-on. You can read a financial statement, coach a manager through a challenge, walk the property with an eye for detail, support a guest concern, and still keep the bigger business plan moving forward.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the day-to-day operations of Chateau Nova Peace River across Rooms, Food & Beverage, meetings, events, and other hotel services
- Drive strong operational performance by focusing on guest satisfaction, team engagement, revenue growth, profitability, and service standards
- Develop and execute business, sales, and revenue strategies in partnership with corporate and property leaders
- Review financial results, operating metrics, budgets, forecasts, and KPIs, taking timely action to keep performance on track
- Coach department leaders on financial performance, labour management, cost control, service delivery, and operational accountability
- Lead, support, and develop the hotel management team and associates
- Build a positive workplace where expectations are clear, people feel supported, and accountability is consistent
- Partner with People & Culture on recruitment, onboarding, training, retention, performance management, and employee relations
- Ensure the property is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, safety, presentation, and guest comfort
- Ensure compliance with health, liquor, gaming, environmental, fire code, safety, employment, and other regulatory requirements
- Represent the hotel professionally within the local community, tourism sector, and business associations
- Promote Nova Hotels’ policies, service expectations, and operating standards through daily leadership and example
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 7 years of progressive hospitality management experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Hotel General Manager
- Strong knowledge of Rooms Division, Sales, Food & Beverage, and overall hotel operations
- Proven ability to lead financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, GOP, NOI, cost control, and revenue growth
- Strong business acumen and ability to support the overall hotel business plan
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing management teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to build strong working relationships with corporate teams, department leaders, associates, guests, and community partners
- Consistent focus on guest service, quality standards, profitability, and team engagement
- Positive, energetic, and flexible leadership style
- Ability to solve problems in a way that supports guests, associates, and the organization
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, hands-on hotel environment
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain active throughout the day depending on business levels
- Intermittent business travel may be required
