Overview
We are seeking a skilled and responsible Class 1 Driver to join our transportation team. This role involves operating commercial vehicles to transport freight efficiently and safely across various routes. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and possess a strong commitment to safety and reliability. A valid commercial driver’s license is essential, along with the ability to handle heavy equipment and perform basic automotive repairs if necessary.
Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks to transport freight to designated locations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when required
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during transportation
- Assist with minor automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle readiness
- Coordinate with dispatchers for scheduling, routing, and delivery updates
- Ensure proper handling of freight to prevent damage during transit
Skills
- Valid Class 1 Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience operating forklifts, heavy equipment, and handling freight loads
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures for commercial driving
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with route planning
- Good communication skills for coordination with team members and dispatchers
- Physical ability to handle loading/unloading tasks and perform vehicle inspections
